Initial 5 Day Health & Safety Representative (HSR) Program - Comcare Approved

• Section 72 (1) of the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Act 2011 Commonwealth (Cth), details the legal entitlement of HSRs to attend a training program approved by the regulator and chosen by the HSR in consultation with the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU).

• Developed by Job Safety Assistance Pty Ltd (JSA) this program has been granted Comcare approval (HSR 010) for delivery by JSA's approved trainers to HSRs in the Commonwealth Jurisdiction including those from Self Insured Organisations covered by the Commonwealth Act. 

• Based on the WHS Act 2011 Cth, the WHS Regulations 2011 Cth as well as Approved Codes of Practice, this program provides the HSR with confidence to consult with management and represent workers in workgroup WHS maters.

• Duration: Five (5) Days - 08:30am to 04:30pm each day (start & finish times are negotiable) - please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement time.

Day 1
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Framework, duty holders, workgroups, HSR elections and Health & Safety Committees (HSCs).

Day 2

Entitlements, powers and protections of an elected HSR & Deputy HSR, Comcare/Inspector powers and functions, Enforcement options.

Day 3

Consultation, Representation & Participation, dealing with conflict, Issue Resolution and Risk Management.

Day 4

Introduction to workplace inspections and the role of the HSR, Notifiable incidents and incident investigations.

Day 5

Dealing with people with special needs, Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs), ceasing unsafe work.

• Detailed workbooks enable participants to have a reference manual to take back with them at the completion of the training. 

• Once a HSR has commenced the Initial 5 Day HSR training program, it is a requirement that it must be completed within (6) months of the commencement date.

• A maximum of 20 participants are allowed in each program.

• All HSR records collected during the training are kept by JSA for seven (7) years.

• All training is delivered face to face - no online training or RPL is available for this program.

• JSA will issue a Certificate of Attendance by email in the form of a pdf document to those participants completing this program.

1 Day Health & Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher Program - Comcare Approved

• Reg 21 of the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Regulations 2011 Cth details the legal entitlement of HSRs to attend a 1 Day Refresher program one year after completing the Initial 5 day HSR Program and every year they remain a duly elected HSR.

• Section 72 (1) of the WHS 2011 Cth, details the legal entitlement of HSRs to attend a training program approved by the regulator and chosen by the HSR in consultation with the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). 

• Developed by Job Safety Assistance Pty Ltd (JSA) this program has been granted Comcare approval (HSR 010) for delivery by JSA's approved trainers to HSRs & Deputy HSRS in the Commonwealth Jurisdiction including those from Self Insured Organisations covered by the Commonwealth Act, that have previously completed the Initial 5 Day HSR program.

• Based on the WHS Act 2011 Cth, the WHS Regulations 2011 Cth as well as Approved Codes of Practice, this program is designed to refresh the knowledge of the HSR and to provide information on legislative changes and industry trends. 

• Workbooks are provided to each participant and include any updated information relating to the WHS Act 2011 Cth, WHS Regulations 2011 Cth and Approved Codes of Practice.

• Certificates for the Refresher Program can only be issued to HSRs that have previously completed the Initial 5 Day HSR Program since January 2012 and for those who have competed the Bridging Program if trained prior to 2012.

• Unless previously trained by JSA evidence of previous training must be produced on the day, or within 10 days of the training.

• A certificate will not be issued, unless evidence of previous training is provided.

•JSA will issue a Certificate of Attendance by email in the form of a pdf document to those participants completing this program.

• All HSR records collected during the training are kept by JSA for seven (7) years; and
