I started my working career as an apprentice refrigeration/air conditioning technician in the mid 70’s and later started my own air conditioning business in the mid 80’s, after managing my own business for several years I sold my business to a larger organisation and took over the role of Regional Manager for Albury/Wodonga, Wagga and Bendigo branches.
This entailed training, coaching and mentoring all of the employees and supervisors in a range of business and technical knowledge and skills required. I instigated an internal training and development program to allow supervisors to be able to learn the people skills necessary to manage technicians with a positive and industrial/employee relations compliant focus.
Another key area that I was directly involved with was the development, introduction and management of Occupational Heath and Safety Management System within the region.
In 2005 I was promoted to General Manager and was able to extend the companies continuous learning program throughout all of NSW and the ACT as well as in the Victorian and Border/Riverina districts. During this time I oversaw the implementation and management the Occupational Heath and Safety System developed during my time as a Regional Manager through out all branches.
In 2007 I instigated the formation of Job Safety Assistance ® Pty Ltd and moved into both management and consultancy roles to be able to assist organisations with a range of human resource management and occupational health and safety assistance.
