Model WHS  Legislation Information Program


Key focus areas will be interpreting the new WHS legislation and identifying the changes facing organisations and highlighting new impacts on organisations in the way risk management is conducted

The sessions are designed to raise awareness of the new offences and strict control measures required of PCBUs through Explaining the requirements of Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking, Officers representing the PCBUs, Health and Safety Representatives and Workers

                    - An overview of the historical context of the evolution from Occupational Health and Safety to Work Health and Safety

                    - Interpreting the Work Health and Safety Legislation framework and how it relates to organisations

                    - The role and functions of the regulator and how they are focused on harmonisation throughout Australia

                    - Outline of the new WHS objectives and terminologies

                    - Identifying key parties and their legislative obligations and duties

                    - The role and functions of the regulator and how they are focused on harmonisation throughout Australia

                    - The duties and responsibilities of PCBUs under the new legislation and how it translates to multi layering of
                      personnel in multiple business workgroups

                    - The duties and responsibilities of officers, workers and other parties

                    - Identification of the new range of penalties for offences for non compliance as required under the new WHS laws

                    - Establishing and confirming representation in the workplace under the new WHS laws

                    - Summarising the PCBUs duties and responsibilities in managing risks including hazard identification and risk control
                      measures required.

                    - The requirements PCBUs, officers and HSRs in the consultation and issue resolution process

                    - The safe work approach organisations are now obliged to comply with including the higher control of risk requirement

                    - The role of HSRs to monitor and ensure PCBUs and officers comply with the new laws including the ability of the

                      HSRs to issue provisional improvement notices throughout organisations

                    - Strategies and negotiation processes to support the heightened focus on consultation
